Welcome from Claire

Hi, my name is Claire. With several years of experience in social care, I began my journey as a coordinator and have now progressed to leading the Wigan branch. I am fortunate to work with a dedicated and talented team, and together, we strive to exceed expectations in providing exceptional care for our service users. As the Branch Manager, my focus is on creating a nurturing and collaborative environment where both our team and service users feel valued and supported. I believe in the importance of continuous learning and development, ensuring that our staff have access to the best training and resources available. This commitment enables us to deliver high-quality care and adapt to the evolving needs of our service users. We are always open to feedback and actively seek ways to improve our services. Our goal is to build strong, trusting relationships with our service users and their families, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met.

Arranging home care

Step 1

  • Arranging homecare ideally starts with getting an assessment of your care needs by your local council. (This is vital!)

  • There’s no charge for this and you’re entitled to one regardless of your income and savings.

  • After your assessment, your local council will provide a written care plan if you are eligible for support, or will give you advice and information on your other options if you do not meet the criteria for help.

Step 2

  • Most local councils charge for the services they provide in your home. Some place an upper weekly limit on the amount you have to pay.

  • Before charging you for services, your local council must work out how much you can afford to pay and this amount should leave you with a reasonable level of income.

  • As part of this process the local authority will arrange a means test to identify if they will provide funding for home care needs.
